Full description

A series of publicity and process photographs documenting the first production of Memory Play, which ran May 20-22, 1994, at The Lab, an experimental art space in San Francisco. The play was directed by Philip Horvitz and John Woodall was set designer. The images feature members of the original performing ensemble—including John Woodall (Reptile), Kevin Killian (Miltonic Humiliator), Michelle Rollman (Child), Nancy McClellan (Fish), Scott MacLeod (Pelican), and Wayne Smith (Instruction)—in various rehearsal poses and costumed configurations. These photos offer a rare glimpse into the visual culture, collaborative ethos, and playful material inventiveness that shaped the work’s performance environment.
